Met Gala 2013 Fashion Recap

Wow, when I heard about this "Punk" theme, I was eager to see some of these celebrities out of their element. However, in my opinion, I think the majority took the safe road, and some of them seemed like they didn't understand the theme. Below I have listed my favorites, and those that I think needed a bit of improvement.

Top Favorites

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles Deacon with a Phillip Treacy headpiece.
She can do no wrong. Who else could have rocked a mohawk like that?

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel
YES. Love it. This is "Chaos to Couture". She was the last person I expected to see pulling off this theme. Love it.

Anne Hathaway in Valentino
How could she NOT be on my favorites... girlfriend just joined the blonde side, and she looks GREAT. This dress is a absolute perfect fit for her. Very "Catwoman" if you ask me!

Rosie Huntington in Gucci
This woman is a sex goddess. Therefore, this dress is perfect for her. Usually she goes for just sexy, but this is edgy and sexy. So she works it well.

Madonna in Givenchy and Casadei Shoes
Now this is punk rock. And this is how you do it in a fashionable way without going over the top. She owned it.

Needs Improvement

Beyonce in Givenchy
Okay, Beyonce always kills it, so this was very disappointing. She should have picked one or the other, the shoes or dress, but not both. It's overkill. And personally doesn't read "punk" to me.

Kim Kardashian in Riccardo Tisci
I'll start by saying her makeup looked great as usual. But I just wish she would NOT have chosen a dress with such a busy busy print! I hate to say it, but it looks like wallpaper...

Ashley Olsen in Vintage Dior and Mary Kate Olsen in Vintage Chanel
Yes, both need improvement. Ashley's looked like a Bollywood Theme, but I will say the color looks great on her. Mary Kate's ensemble is perfect... for a Mary Kate Olsen theme.

Nicole Richie in Top Shop
Okay, girlfriend certainly understood the theme, but I think just a tad too much. I do love that she had fun with it though. But the hair is too "costume"-ish in my opinion.

Kristen Stewart in Stella McCartney
Of all the celebrities at this event, Kristen Stewart should have owned this theme. She dresses punk to every event, except this one. I'm more confused by this choice than anything.

Anna Wintour in Chanel
Yes. Anna Wintour is on my Needs Improvement list. I never thought I would see the day. She looks beautiful, and perfect. But not with the theme, and I would have LOVED to see her rock an edgy look.

Ginnifer Goodwin in Tory Burch
Too over-the-top for me. I feel weird seeing her like this.

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs
The dress is great for the theme, but I think the hair just pushes the theme a little too much. If she did her signature pixie look, this would have been my number one favorite.

And these beauties might have missed the memo on the theme, but they still looked amazing.

Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors and Christian Louboutin Clutch.
Alright, the girls got a job being half-naked, so can you blame her for showing up like this? Plus, if ya got it, flaunt it. Right? I like that she tried to sneak some of the punk theme in with her spiked clutch. A+ for Effort.

Jessica Alba in Tory Burch
She looks great in this dress, so I had to mention her on this post. It might not represent the theme, but oh well. My only question is.... Where are your eyebrows Jessica?!

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung
She. Just. Looks. Good.

Olivia Wilde in Calvin Klein
I wouldn't personally choose white for a punk theme, but if I had abs like that I might.

Blake Lively
One of my favorite looks on her. Simply because she isn't doing her "thigh" look like always, and still looks great. Plus it pretty much is in the realm of the theme.

What did ya'll think of these looks? Totally agree, or completely disagree?

This is it. I have officially entered the blogging world.

After much deliberation, I decided to create my own blog, simply because I enjoy sharing my opinions (even when they aren't welcome). I did not join the blogging world to make judgements on others... In fact, I am here to hopefully be of some assistance to those who need direction, and maybe just a good laugh. Maybe, I might even spark creativity in some minds, or motivate some to get the body they've been daydreaming about. My posts will consist of a variety of topics from eating healthy, to relationships, to fashion, and even celebrity gossip.

I have solace in the place that I am in now. I've been through plenty of life's hurdles. The up's and down's, the fork in the roads, and of course, questioning my purpose in life. I now know, nobody lives a perfect life, no matter how 'Jennifer Aniston' their hair is, or how 'Marissa Miller' their body is... Everyone has their skeletons, you just might never see them.

So go ahead, subscribe, grab a glass of rosé, and enjoy, because life is truly blissful.

xoxo,
Lo
